Documenting enforced disappearances, torture and landmine injuries across the Pashtun belt.

Legal disclaimer & editorial policy

What this site is, and what it is not.

My Safe Voice documents and reports. It does not judge, prosecute, or replace the courts. This page sets out the rules we hold ourselves to, and the limits of what you should read here. Last updated: October 2026.

Sourcing and attribution

Every case in The Wall of the Missing and every article in News & Analysis is sourced to published reporting, human-rights documentation, court records, or a direct family account that we have been able to corroborate. Sources are named and, where available, linked. Where a claim rests on a single source, we say so.

Allegations, not verdicts

Much of what is documented here consists of allegations: that a named person was detained, that a disappearance occurred, that a particular force was responsible. Reporting an allegation as an allegation is not a statement that it is proven. We do not describe a person or institution as guilty of a crime unless a competent court has so found, and we carefully attribute contested claims to their sources.

Right of reply and corrections

Any person or organisation named in a contested claim may contact us to put their position on the record, and we will consider publishing a response or an update. If we publish something factually wrong, we will correct it and note the correction on the affected page rather than deleting it silently. To request a correction or exercise a right of reply, write to corrections@mysafevoice.com.

Not legal advice

The guides in Know Your Rights are general information to help you understand your options. They are not legal advice for your particular case and do not create a lawyer–client relationship. Laws, procedures and court practice change. Always confirm the current position with a qualified lawyer before acting.

No endorsement; third-party links

Where we link to other organisations, we do so to help readers, not as an endorsement, and we are not responsible for their content or how they handle your data. Contact details for third parties are provided for convenience and may change; verify them yourself.

Safety and consent

We will not publish information that we judge would expose a living person to greater risk without informed consent. Where someone may still be in detention, we are intentionally less specific.

Limitation of liability

This site is provided as-is. To the extent permitted by law, My Safe Voice and its contributors accept no liability for any loss or harm arising from reliance on its content or from the actions of third parties. You use the information here at your own judgement.

Copyright

Original text on this site may be quoted or republished for non-commercial human-rights and journalistic purposes with attribution to My Safe Voice and a link where possible. We do not claim rights over third-party material we cite, and we will remove any such material on a valid request.

A caution in both directions. This site exists to make abuses harder to deny. It equally exists not to become a vehicle for false claims that would discredit real victims. If something here looks wrong to you, tell us, the accuracy of this record is the entire point of it.
